Emergency School Closure Information
During unpredictable winter weather we will always keep you informed in the event of school closure due to heavy snow or any other reason. We will endeavour to keep the school open as much as possible to avoid disruption to the children’s learning but, in the interests of health and safety, on rare occasions this may not be possible.
Should the school need to close, we will use the following media to communicate with parents and carers:
- The school website will be regularly updated – visit www.sutton-valence.kent.sch.uk
- The Kent County Council website will also contain information which you can register/sign up to for free text alerts to your mobile phone when information is updated – visit www.kentclosures.co.uk
- Local radio stations will be informed – BBC Radio Kent, KMFM Radio and Heart FM
- Twitter (please supply us with your account name if you wish to follow the school on Twitter so that our account can be made visible to you)
In bad weather, please ensure children come to school with suitable outdoor clothing and spare shoes to wear in school.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school should you have any queries regarding our emergency school closure procedure.
