Wednesday, 15th March Year Six

We went to the allotment by the Preparatory School; we had to turn dirt over with spades and forks, dig some sheep manure to add nutrients to the soil, we chose this because it had no seeds added to it. It was very fun because we got to touch the manure (with gloves on of course). Emily also found some bones in the manure, we took them to Mrs Bell to identify which animals the bones belonged too. Georgina and Cherise worked out what the area of each plot was (helped by the teenagers from Sutton Valence Preparatory School: Til, Lara and Sam). They also helped find the PH of the soil to see whether it was acidic or alkaline
