Welcome to our forest school blog

The children and I will be regularly blogging with forest school updates :)
Last week we had a lot of fun with the leaves: dancing with them; throwing them in the air; creating temporary art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy and ultimately , collecting the red, gold, yellow, orange and brown deciduous leaves to make leaf piles that will make valuable leaf mould (once we've had fun lying in them!) We also cut back the summer fruiting raspberries and planted the last of hundreds of spring bulbs.
The children have also been very busy preparing for our new forest craft and food shop that will be open Wednesdays and Fridays 3pm - 3.30pm. Year 5 have all chosen different roles and will become experts in their area, before teaching other classes. They are learning what is involved in managing a shop, making and monitoring stock and sales and it is wonderful for them to gain entrepreneurial skills. We are all very excited about this new venture and grateful that our new allotment has already provided us with an assortment of fruits.
