Pupils will need to read to an adult at least twice over the weekend to complete the challenge on time.

Please make sure you sign your child(ren)’s reading record book so that we can keep track of who is reading at home.

Pupils will need to reach the following milestones by:

03/10 for Bronze

10/10 for Silver

17/10 for Gold

Pupils who have reached Gold on time will receive a reward, chosen by the children, during the last week of term.

23.9.22 The children have tried so hard with their learning this week and so many more of them have tried to get coloured lolly sticks to complete the rainbow challenge. The children have been getting on really well in their reading sessions and are becoming much more fluent with their reading. In phonics we have finished off our phase 3 recap, ready to start phase 4 next week. In English this week our GPS (Grammar Punctuation and Spelling) focus has been on using capital letters and full stops for sentences. We have also been continuing our learning about the text Owl Babies and the children all created beautiful story maps to plan the story yesterday, I can't wait to see what they are able to produce next week! In Maths this week we have been continuing our work on counting, counting on from any given number, finding one more than a given number and counting back from any given number.

Please remember to read the practice book over the weekend and bring it back on Monday so we can use these for our reading sessions in school. Thank you!

16.9.22 The children have settled in so well and have coped fantastically with our first week of full on learning! You should be very proud of them. This week we have started our rainbow challenge, which the children complete in their child initiated time, lots of them have tried to get a rainbow of lolly sticks. This week in English we have been learning about capital letters for names and started learning about the story Owl Babies, which we will be continuing for the next two weeks. In Maths we have started with numbers to 10 - counting forwards, backwards and representing numbers in a variety of ways. In phonics we are currently doing a two week recap of phase 3 and then will be moving on to phase 4.

9.9.22 The children have settled in really well and are getting used to their new classroom and teachers. We have been doing a lot of learning through play so far this term to help the children transition into Year 1, particularly in the afternoons. In the mornings we have been learning about our brains.
