Welcome to the Year 4 Class page

Class Teacher: Mrs Turnlund

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Powell and Mrs Turner

Today, we made a class podcast about What society was like in The Shang Dynasty, to share our learning in History this term. Have a listen, we hope you enjoy it!

Today we learnt ‘Walking with my Iguana’ by Brian Moses and we performed it as a class. Look at our fabulous performance ❤️

On Monday 27th February, we will be launching a new reading challenge for this term.

Pupils will need to read to an adult at least three times a week to complete the challenge on time.

Please make sure you sign your child(ren)’s reading record book so that we can keep track of who is reading at home.

The children do not need to read a whole book every time they read to you. Reading a few pages at a time is enough, as long as they discuss their understanding of the text with you, as this is a vital part of their reading development.

Pupils will need to reach the following milestones by:

13/03 for Bronze

20/03 for Silver

27/03 for Gold

Pupils who have reached Gold on time will receive a reward, chosen by the children, during the last week of term: Ours is free choice for an hour!

Battle of the Bands on TTRS has started!

Can you play to win points for your house? It's really fun  - join in and play I will be playing too :)

Reading Challenge Term 2

Pupils need to read 3 times a week and have their reading record signed.

Pupils will need to reach the following milestones by:

21/11 for Bronze

28/11 for Silver

05/12 for Gold

Our Power Maths homework is now ready to play online! These are maths games which support the unit of maths we are learning in class.

The expectation is that you access these games  at least twice a week.

Please go to ActiveLearn: Login (activelearnprimary.co.uk)

Your username and password are the same as it was for Bug Club.

When you reach the home screen, click on 'My Stuff'

Then, click on the option for 'Power Maths' (not Maths Flex, this is a programme we use in school.)

You should then be able to access the game,

If you need reminding of your log in details, please write a note in the contact book.

Please look at the above link for information about our upcoming Times Tables Check in June. Please make use of TTRS as much as possible.

Times Tables

Click here to play a range of times table games.

Please remember to use Times Table Rock Stars! I am expecting you to use TTRS at least 3 times a week -

Please play the 'Garage' option to practise tables set by me.

Use the 'Soundcheck' option to practise all your times tables in a speed test. Soundcheck is similar to the government test all pupils will sit at the end of year 4.

We have a reward chart in the classroom with mini, personalised rockstars. When your child has mastered a times table they will move up a level on our class chart. There will be a reward at the end of the chart.

Spelling

There will be a spelling test every Friday morning using the words set on spelling shed. New words will be added Friday afternoon for the week ahead.

At the bottom of the page, there is a list of the words that you need to learn by the end of Year 4. Please practise at home whenever you can!

Please find the Year 3 and 4 common exception words to practise with your child at home.
