Learning at home

Reading your practice book from school 2 times a week which will come home on Friday and need returning on MONDAY.

10 Spellings will go home on a WEDNESDAY to practice for a spelling test the following WEDNESDAY.

Please also learn the year 2 common excpetion words throughout the year it is really important your child can read and spell these words!

Sharing a book from the school library with your child which will come home on Friday and need returning the following Friday to be changed.

PE and other information

PE is on Thursdays.

Your child will have Earth Class every Wednesday this term. Please ensure that your child comes to school prepared with the appropriate clothing and equipment for their Earth Class activities.

For their safety, children must wear long-sleeved tops and trousers, even when the weather is warm. The children take part in a range of outdoor activities where they may come into contact with stinging nettles, brambles and other plants, so covering their arms and legs helps to protect them from scratches and stings.

Although the weather may be warmer, the children have access to shaded areas, regular opportunities to rest and plenty of opportunities to drink water, so please continue to send them in the required clothing.

Please make sure your child brings/wears:

• Long-sleeved top – required even in warm weather
• Long trousers – required for protection
• Wellington boots – every week for muddy/wet conditions
• Trainers – for activities where wellington boots are not suitable
• Waterproof raincoat – whatever the weather, as conditions can change quickly
• Sun hat – for warmer and sunny days
• Named drink bottle – so children can stay hydrated throughout the session

We appreciate your support in ensuring that your child arrives fully prepared for Earth Class. These requirements are in place to keep the children safe, comfortable and able to enjoy their outdoor learning experiences if your child does not come with the appropriate items of clothing they may be asked not to attend Earth class.
